This guide walks you through your first steps in flip: from signing up to your first flip and working together with colleagues. Each step is described briefly, with details in the linked articles. Spaces, teams and roles are explained in What flip is and how it works
How to sign up
- Open the sign-up page
- Enter your email and password and click “Create account”. Alternatively, click the Yandex, VK or Mail.ru icon to sign up with that service
- Enter the confirmation code from the email

How to set up your space
After you sign up, the home page of your space opens. A new space is on the Mini plan and has one team
To open the settings, in the left sidebar, click “Space settings” next to the space name. If you have several spaces, open the list of spaces and click the settings icon in the row of the current space. In the settings:
- in “Space profile”, the owner and admins change the name and logo with the “Edit profile” button — learn more in Viewing and editing a space
- “Space members” lists all members and their roles — learn more in Space member roles
- in “Plan management”, the owner changes the plan — learn more in Space plan management
How the plans differ is explained in Comparing flip plans
How to invite colleagues
- On the home page, click “Invite” in the top right corner
- Enter your colleagues' email addresses separated by commas or spaces
- Under “Add members to a team”, select at least one team
- Click “Invite”
Your colleagues will receive an invitation email. On the Mini plan, any member can invite people; on the Business and Enterprise plans, the owner and admins can. A space can have up to 15 members on Mini and up to 100 on Business, while on Individual only the owner works in the space. Learn more in How to invite users to a space
On the Business and Enterprise plans you can split members into teams, for example by department or project. To do this, see How to create and delete a team, How to add and remove team members and How to change a team's name, avatar and owner
How to create your first flip
On the home page, in the “Quick start” block, choose how to start:
- “Create flip” — a blank flip named “New flip” opens right away
- “Start from template” — pick a template and click “Use”. Learn more in Flip templates
- “Import” — move a board from Miro or upload a flip backup in the .board format. Learn more in How to install the extension and download a board from Miro and Flip backup
On the Mini plan you can create 3 flips. To rename a flip, change its cover, sort flips into folders and restore them from the trash, see Creating and editing flips and Folders, favorites and trash
What tools a flip has
The toolbar is on the left. Choose a tool and add an element to the flip:
- “Stickers” and “Text” — notes and captions
- “Shapes”, “Arrow” and “Mind map” — diagrams and processes
- “Grid” and “Document” — tables and long texts
- “Frame” — areas for grouping elements and slides for a presentation
- “Draw” — freehand lines
- “Templates” — ready-made structures
If a tool is not on the toolbar, open “All tools”. The “Edit” tool selects and moves elements. Images and files are added with the “Upload” button on the top panel or by dragging them onto the flip — learn more in How to upload images and files
General techniques are described in Working on a flip: the basics and Hotkeys in flip, and each element is covered in the “Board elements” section
